A New Look!

I finally had the time to re-do the look of my blog like I have been wanting to do! And Blogger makes it so easy with it’s new Customization Layout feature. I was skeptical at first and afraid to ‘jump in’ and just do it, but I think it turned out pretty good so far! What do you think? I love the ease of the new custom banner or photo feature. It makes it so personal and it was very easy to do! I do have alot of work ahead to add all the ‘other’ outside elements I had on the old template. That is the only drawback to this. You lose all the customization that you did on your previous template unfortunately. But, I was ready for a new look and I definitely like the fact that I was able to upload my own banner. So, for me, it was worth it to lose all the other elements for now. Now I just need people to re-subscribe to my blog. You can easily do so in the sidebar! Thanks!

Updating

Little by little, I have been adding some new patterns and leaflets to my website. One of my most favorite leaflets in the last couple of years is a leaflet of adorable baby booties designed by
Carolyn Christmas called

Precious Baby Booties.

Each set of baby booties are different and as always Carolyn has lent her wonderful flair for style, design and color to each pair. They are all quick and easy to make in the tradition of most patterns and leaflets sold at
Cute Crochet.

You can purchase the pattern leaflet here.

An Update…finally

My mom is home now and doing so much better! She still requires constant care, but we are so very happy that she can be home with us. She has a long road ahead of her, but she has also come so very far!

My son is getting married in July, so I have been busy crocheting for the wedding. My twin nieces are going to be the flower girls, so I am working on two Flower Girl Baskets in their colors. My grandson is going to be the ring bearer, so I am also crocheting a Ring Bearer Pillow. I hope to have some pictures soon!

Quick Update

Unfortunately, not much has been new around Cute and Country Crochet lately. The reason for this is that at the end of August last year, my mom was hit bt a car while walking near my home during her annual visit with me. I have been taking care of her daily since the accident, so I have not had much time to create new designs! I am happy to report that she is steadily improving, day by day, so hopefully, I will now have more time to devote to crochet. I am itching to get back to designing! I hope to be adding some new updates soon. Stay tuned!

Newest Felted Design

When I have had time for crochet this summer, I’ve been doing alot of felting. It is so much fun and addicting, I just can’t get enough! Here is a photo of my latest felted design:

The pattern for this Multi-Colored Clutch can be purchased HERE. This trendy clutch is really easy to crochet and works up VERY fast! After felting is complete, it measures 13-1/4 inches wide X 6-1/4 inches tall. Long, slim clutch purses are really in fashion right now, and this can be made in a couple of evenings by even the novice crocheter!

A Beautiful Essay

2007 April 4

I just finished reading a most incredible essay regarding our Grandmother’s crochet, and the differences between knitting and crochet. I just have to pass it along. It is on the Crochet Insider site of Dora Ohrenstein, and the essay can be found on this page:
HERE.
Make sure you scroll down to the middle of the page where the beautiful rose, green, and black afghan is, to the article entitled, “The age-old battle continues: Crochet vs. Knitting. Who will win?”.
I was so moved by some of the thoughts in it, that at some point, as I could picture Tanis crocheting with her grandmother’s hook, tears started falling down my cheek. Tanis, I think you should finish your grandmother’s afghan. Somehow, I think she would like that!
Being both a knitter and a crocheter myself, I, too, have never understood all the misunderstanding surrounding the controversy of knitting vs crocheting.
Thank you, Tanis, for writing so passionately and so well about how I have always felt about the subject. You were able to put into words feelings that I was never able to articulate. Bravo!
